
To provide generator backup cover, for all site services at Birmingham Women’s Hospital during major switchgear modification work requiring the isolation of the normal mains supply.
To pre install and test the system in advance of weekend working. Commission the system ‘On Line’ Saturday am, and monitor over the weekend with an Engineer shift system providing onsite 24hr cover with full fuel management until scheduled completion of switchgear works Sunday evening.
To ensure site services go unaffected
2 x 1000kva automatic start Generators, connected through a 1600amp automatic Changeover Panel supporting the Hospital load.
2 x 200kva Automatic start Generators, connected through a 400amp automatic changeover panel dedicated to support the Neo-Natal (Babies) ward.
Cabling from the Generators and changeover panel ran over roof tops and along corridors, to reach the appropriate connection points. Several bespoke distribution boards designed specifically to support minor services.
System designed, so that in the event of a generator failure. The standby generator would automatically start and take up the site load. (An N+1 system).
Fuel management comprising bulk storage fuel tanks with arrange refills.
