Generator running faults from an unlikely source

Fuel Technology | Thames Water

After being called to a reported running issue with a large Perkins Generator, the last thing the attending engineer expected to find was a fuel filter full of black slime!
Again we were presented with fuel contamination, however this was the largest find to date .

Objectives

To erradicate all fuel contamintion both respecting environmental impacts and reducing site expenditure and losses

What we did

We designed and installed a fuel filtration and re-circulation system, operating autonomously
Designed with saftey interlocks to prevent any fuel spillages.
Filtered fuel is continually monitored and alarm outputs provide early warning of poential problems

‘Given consideration to the volume of fuel that was affected, we were faced with a disposal and replenish cost of over £30,000.00, Powerpro Fuel Technology were on site for a week and and the problem has been erradicated and contiually managed
Business continuety remained throughout’
